Valmark Financial Group is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and creative intern to support our Communications and Member Firm Development initiatives. This role offers hands‑on experience in marketing operations, digital communications, member engagement, and brand support.
The intern will work closely with the Communications team to help manage content within Valmark Connect, assist with physical and digital communications to Member Firms, support social media initiatives, and help maintain brand consistency across internal and external platforms. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in marketing, communications, business operations, and financial services.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Communications & Marketing Support- Assist with front‑end document management in Valmark Connect, including untagging and organizing documents as directed
- Create and send one‑off email communications to Members and staff using Hub Spot
- Support physical mailing initiatives, including coordinating and executing mail mergers
- Generate and propose new ideas for social media content for both Valmark and Member Firms
- Assist with maintaining and updating the employee bio library for recruiting visits, Member Firm websites, and other external uses
- Proofread marketing and communications materials to ensure accuracy and brand alignment
- Conduct and support a comprehensive Member Office website audit project, reviewing sites for brand consistency, messaging alignment, and optimization opportunities
- Provide marketing support to Communications team for Member Firms as needed
- Assist with tracking communication engagement and identifying opportunities for improvement
Our ideal candidate has the following qualities:
- Familiarity with email campaign software a plus, including Hub Spot
- Familiarity with document management systems a plus, including Box
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Creative thinking and problem‑solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Positive, team‑oriented attitude
- Willingness to take initiative and learn in a fast‑paced environment
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Currently enrolled in college pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred but not required)
- Availability to work onsite in Akron, OH:
- 16–24 hours per week during spring and fall semester
- 30–40 hours per week during summer months
Pay: $20 per hour
