Job Title: Quality Inspector - 2nd Shift (Extrusion Manufacturing)
Location: Akron, OH 44305 Duration: 03 Months + Possible Extensions Shift: 2nd Shift | 4:00 PM 12:00 AM Hours: 38-40 hours per week (occasional weekends)
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Quality Inspector to support commercial production activities within an extrusion manufacturing environment. This temporary assignment plays a critical role in ensuring product quality, process integrity, and compliance with ISO and quality system standards.
The Quality Inspector provides real-time quality oversight on the production floor, performing visual and dimensional inspections, verifying documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Perform in-process and final inspections of tubing products.
- Collect tubing samples from extrusion lines and conduct dimensional checks using a video microscope with measurement software.
- Verify line clearance prior to production start-up.
- Confirm correct materials, labeling, packaging, and brand specifications.
- Inspect tubing for visual defects (clarity, color, burns, scratches, imperfections).
- Identify, segregate, and document nonconforming products.
- Review manufacturing work orders to confirm product specifications.
- Support product release documentation and Certificate of Conformance (CoC) generation.
- Assist with calibration and equipment verification.
- Support ISO initiatives, audits, and quality investigations.
- Escalate quality concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Note:
Inspections are repeated at line start-up and completion of each production run and will make up the majority of daily responsibilities.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work 2nd shift (4:00 PM 12:00 AM) and occasional weekends.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience as a Quality Inspector in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working under ISO or cGMP standards.
- Familiarity with extrusion or similar production processes.
- Flexibility to cover 1st or 3rd shift if needed.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret measurement data and product specifications.
- Confidence in making quality-based decisions.
- Professional communication with operators, supervisors, and quality teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
- Manufacturing floor environment.
- Frequent walking between extrusion lines.
- Use of measurement and inspection equipment.
- Training provided prior to independent shift coverage.
