Position:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manufacturing Technician / Applications Engineer to support our machining division in a contract manufacturing environment. This role will be instrumental in developing and optimizing manufacturing processes while ensuring compliance with AS9100 and IATF 16949 standards. The ideal candidate will have expertise in CNC programming, CAD/CAM systems, tool selection, and process development, as well as the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and support new product introduction (NPI) efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs for machined components.
  • Actively participate in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and NPI (New Product Introduction) processes.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes using the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology.
  • Contribute to the design and selection of fixtures and work-holding solutions to improve machining efficiency and repeatability.
  • Participate in the machine tool selection process to ensure alignment with manufacturing and quality requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions and manufacturing procedures to standardize processes.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Provide training for new and existing employees on machining processes and best practices.
  • Maintain compliance with AS9100 and IATF 16949 quality management system requirements. Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for machining applications.
  • Advanced CNC programming skills with knowledge of G-code and M-code.
  • Strong understanding of tool selection and machining parameters for various materials.
  • Experience in process development and optimization.
  • Competence in Microsoft 365 Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of project management principles and NPI methodologies.

Required Soft Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and machining equipment.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data collection analysis.
  • Understanding of quality control methods and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a contract manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience with AS9100 and IATF 16949 compliance.
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting CNC machinery.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily in a manufacturing shop environment with exposure to machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift moderate weights as required for machine setup and troubleshooting.
  • This is a full-time position. Work hours will follow shop hours 40-50 hours per week, Monday-Thursday 6am 4:30pm and possible Friday hours when needed.
