Carpenter Associate Opportunity Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Warehouse/Carpenter Associate, who is responsible for keeping track of all shipping and receiving orders by loading and unloading trucks, containers, and railcars.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Retrieves parts from storage space as directed by pick ticket by reaching and lifting, or climbing a ladder and carrying down, or using a forklift.
  • Visually identifies part numbers on parts and compares to pick ticket for accuracy.
  • Places picked parts with appropriate paperwork into containers assigned to the order; stages parts in preparation for loading onto trucks.
  • Constructs items such as boxes, crates, pallets, and storage bins from wood in accordance with MILSTD 2073-1E.
  • Studies specifications and measures, marks, and cuts boards, using patterns, templates, ruler, pencil, and hand and power saws.
  • Fastens or installs parts, using hammer, nailing machine, or power staple.
  • Inserts wood bracings, cardboard files, and felt pads in containers.
  • Builds crates around objects, using ruler, hand tools, and pneumatic nail gun.
  • Packs, seals, bands, and applies markings to crates and containers.
  • Prepares finished products for shipment or storage by placing them in shipping containers, the specific operations performed being dependent upon the type, size, and number of units to be packed, the type of container employed, and method of shipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and special government packaging instructions to understand order requirements.
  • Unloads incoming trucks, staging parts' crates or boxes in appropriate staging area for receiving.
  • Quality control Inspection on incoming products to ensure item matches print. Ability to read and understand various measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Makes appropriate notations on paperwork to indicate accuracy (inaccuracy) of incoming shipment; stages incoming parts in an area for eventual storage.
  • Uses a computer to look up permanent storage location for specific parts.
  • Puts parts in storage location by reaching and lifting, or climbing a ladder and carrying part up, or using a forklift.
  • Performs cycle counts or periodic inventories by counting parts in a specific location and comparing the count to the count on record.
  • Notifies supervisor of any problems encountered when trying to retrieve or store parts relating to location, quality or conformity, and/or counts.
  • Identifies and handles urgent orders in a way that prioritizes them above normal work routine.
  • Maintains work area up to standards, putting packing materials in appropriate places for recycling or disposing, and parts crates in staging area for return and reuse.
  • Packages and arranges for the return of items specified by OEM for return to supplier.
  • Watches for "Hot Parts" to come in and expedites to depot or other production line.
  • Stores/files completed documents in appropriate locations.
  • Requisition additional materials, supplies, and equipment.
