This position requires the ability to be on-site regularly at an office location. Applicants must be willing to relocate to within a 1-hour commute of one of the control center locations located in Akron, OH (preferred), Reading or Greensburg, PA, or Fairmont, WV. Special consideration for the right candidate to work at additional locations may be made for exceptionally qualified candidates.

The First Energy OT Sys Admin team operates a world class, complex set of Operational Technology systems to monitor and control the electrical grid. The team manages the application software to support First Energy’s Energy Management System (EMS) and Distribution Management System (DMS). DMS contains two major components Distribution (Dx) SCADA and the Network Management System (NMS) used for advanced applications and Outage Management (OMS).
The team focuses on ensuring a world class EMS and DMS system for use by Transmission and Distribution Operations.
The Supervisor, OT Sys Admin NMS focuses on managing the team of administrators who support and develop in these complex vendor software platforms (Oracle NMS suite and Live Energy Connect, formerly Live Data) as well as interfaces to systems. Key skills include the ability to manage high-paced complex teams, vendor management and related system administration, scripting, and development to ensure a cohesive OT Systems landscape built with components from various vendors.
The supervisor specializes in the NMS area and provides general support for the entire OT Systems landscape and works across First Energy to achieve excellence. Supervisors are responsible for the computing health of the overall OT Systems Landscape and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, including NERC CIP and NJ ICS standards. This role interfaces openly and frequently with IT Infrastructure teams and OT Systems peers.

- Lead a team of analysts, engineers and system administrators in the architecture, configuration, deployment and maintenance of First Energy’s OT Systems

- Build, manage and tune a mission-critical real-time architecture that supports operations 24x7x365 with zero downtime, utilizing real-time databases, software and networking technologies with emphasis on RTS practices and standards
- Lead complex technical discussions to advance OT Systems, ensuring they remain highly available, redundant and performant
- Achieve full operational awareness on all system changes
- Own and be accountable for issues escalated to this level
- Drive initiation, monitoring, implementation and completion of IT and OT work to achieve goals
- Develop and maintain integrations between systems and components
- Understand structure and design of application databases
- Assist with ETL development using vendor tooling, bulk/batch import/export processes, Perl, Oracle SQL and PL/SQL following RTS best practices
- Utilize approved tooling to customize vendor applications and write custom applications using C++, C#, Perl, Python and, when necessary, Java
- Manage, compare, configure, build and debug vendor software; collaborate with internal, contractor and vendor resources to resolve issues and implement enhancements
- Manage compilation, deployment and testing of patches and software upgrades across environments
- Perform system security administration tasks
- Solve complex problems and troubleshoot functionality, including debugging; collaborate with other IT personnel
- Manage code, scripts and other artifacts in source control to ensure governance and provenance of deployed software
- Develop technical designs for the RTS landscape to meet business needs within RTS standards
- Collaborate to maintain OT Systems based on IT needs, business requirements and regulatory pressures
- Support real-time data acquisition and control of the electrical grid in a reliable and secure manner
- Work with enterprise server, storage, networking, data center, NOC and desktop teams to deliver robust, redundant real-time system and data collection architectures
