Sterile Processing Technician

Overview

Full-time, 40 hours/week. M-F Days, 6:30AM-3PM. Every other weekend and Holiday rotation. Onsite Akron, OH.

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for a combination of the following functions: decontamination, cleaning, assembly and sterilization of all instruments, and inventory control of Sterile Processing and Operating Room [OR] supplies.

• Responsible for decontamination, correct assembly and sterilization of all instruments and equipment
• Responsible for inventory control of Sterile Processing and OR supplies.
• Must have working knowledge of regulatory standards for universal precautions, sterilization, and regulatory standards biological monitoring.
• Ability to operate all sterilization equipment and recognize equipment malfunctions.
• Follows procedures for ordering and receiving supplies
• Participates in educational efforts for the department, unit, and hospital.
• Participates in various hospital activities as appropriate and as directed by the Manager.
• Other duties as required.

• Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
• Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification within one year of employment and/or one extension of 3 months to pass.

If certification is not passed, employee may remain in this position with only annual increase eligibility (and market adjustments as needed).

• Ability to push and pull carts containing medical supplies and instruments.
• Ability to stand for extended periods during shift hours.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
• Exposure to biohazardous materials and sharp instruments; adherence to strict safety and infection control protocols is required.
