Division of Pediatric Psychology– Role Overview
The Division of Pediatric Psychology at Akron Children’s Hospital (ACH) is recruiting a pediatric/child clinical psychologist to join our assessment team. The psychologist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that includes Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and Speech/Language Therapy to expand dyslexia and learning evaluation services. Primary duties will include consultation and evaluation of dyslexia and comorbid conditions, with opportunities to broaden focus as interests evolve.
For psychologists seeking a full‑time opportunity, this position may combine with other available areas such as Autism Clinic, Anxiety/OCD Disorder Clinic, or Tic/Tourette’s Clinic.
Robust opportunities exist for engagement in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research. Protected clinical time, collaboration with the Research Institute for coordination and statistical support, and funding for national and international conferences enhance research productivity. Mentorship and peer collaboration further support academic growth.
Training and SupervisionAkron Children’s Hospital offers a robust externship program in partnership with area universities, a newly developed Pediatric Psychology Internship Program, and an established Pediatric Psychology Fellowship Program. Psychologists work closely with pediatric residents and fellows in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Child Psychiatry, and related specialties, providing interprofessional education. Medical student teaching opportunities through Northeast Ohio Medical University are also available, with support for new supervisors and educators.
Qualifications• Doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.
D.) in clinical, counseling, or educational psychology from an APA‑accredited doctoral program.
• Completion of an APA‑accredited internship (child or pediatric emphasis preferred).
• State of Ohio license eligibility.
• Strong interest in evidence‑based pediatric psychology practice.
