OpportunityHandling multi-state sales/use tax recovery projects for large, sophisticated organizations takes more than just a technical understanding of current sales and use tax rules. As a Sales and Use Tax Senior assigned to EY’s Sales and Use Tax Lookback Review Center of Excellence (COE), you will build and apply your knowledge on a wide range of sales and use tax recovery projects for clients in multiple industries.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate across a diverse array of projects, responsibilities, and tasks.
- Provide up-to-the-minute tax advice that clients can always rely on.
- Work in a highly collaborative culture that values listening to and sharing information with colleagues.
- Research clients’ business operations and build long-lasting relationships.
- Identify applicable sales and use tax exemptions and exclusions.
- Identify potential over payment opportunities or risks and communicate these to clients.
- Monitor current tax law changes to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor.
- Develop clear, intelligent plans and approaches for sales and use tax recoveries.
- Prepare and defend sales and use tax refund claims.
- Participate in a motivated team of professionals.
- Supervise a motivated team, guaranteeing they have the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to reach their full potential.
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
- Professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts and tools.
- A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
- The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.
- Strong influencing skills, and the confidence to question existing processes.
- Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment.
- An achieved or partially achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, CMI designation, or the ability to sit for a state bar.
- A comprehensive compensation and benefits package with base salary ranging from $81,700 to $135,000 nationwide, and higher ranges for certain metros.
