State Income Tax Manager position with EY.

The State Income Tax Manager will provide tax consulting, planning, and compliance services to a diverse range of clients across various sectors. EY’s Tax practice emphasizes growth through new skills, responsibilities, and dedicated mentorship.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Oversee state-level tax projects, including compliance and related research.
- Lead and direct a team in managing state tax compliance and advisory services for clients.
- Managing and executing state income tax compliance responsibilities.
- Monitoring and analyzing changes in state income tax laws and regulations and determining impact to the client.
- Providing complex tax review, research, planning and consulting services to diverse clients, including federal and state tax regulations.
- Leading or assisting with various tax planning, research, and special projects.
- Preparing and reviewing quarterly and annual state income tax provisions.
- Modeling state income tax benefits and consequences using Microsoft Excel, Power
BI or Alteryx. - Writing tax technical memos to articulate issues, conclusions, and analysis on state tax issues.
- Developing and working with staff and seniors to create a collaborative team environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline; approximately six years of related work experience.
- High proficiency in state income tax code, regulations, and procedures.
- Proven track record in a professional services or tax organization.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
- Ability to analyze client data, apply technical guidance, and make recommendations to engagement teams.
- Ability to prioritize multiple complex projects.
- Strong influencing skills and willingness to challenge existing processes.
- Willingness to travel as needed and experience working in a balanced hybrid environment.
- CPA qualification (achieved or partially achieved) or certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, or the ability to sit for or be a member of a state bar.

- Comprehensive compensation and benefits package with base salary ranges: US-wide $105,100–$192,600; NYC Metro, WA, CA (excluding Sacramento) $126,100–$218,900. Salaries are determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. Total Rewards include medical/dental coverage, pension, 401(k), and paid time off.
- Hybrid work model with expectations to work in person 40-60% of the time on engagements/projects.
