Position: Senior Project Controls Specialist (Akron)

Description

The Senior Project Controls Specialist leads project controls processes and consults with the project management team to ensure client satisfaction.

  • Presents schedule and budget status reports to project management team and client.
  • Validates proper set‑up and management of the Enterprise Planning & Controls software.
  • Analyzes data, logs, and reports in the Enterprise Planning & Controls software or other tools.
  • Validates proper Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is utilized.
  • Develops effective scheduling reports, cost reports, cash‑flow reports and forecasts for multiple projects.
  • Develops, implements, and manages the reporting data warehouse to produce valuable program controls reports and data for multiple large projects.
  • Provides leadership and training to team members, ensuring the resolution of difficult project‑control issues.
  • Develops and implements project execution plans.
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with existing and potential clients, customers, and contractors.
  • Responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction planning, scheduling, logistics and cost control.
  • Serves as a point of contact for technical questions from the project team.
  • Validates the accuracy of cost management and forecast reporting.
  • Interfaces with the Project Management Team and Accounting Department to review project costs and contingency costs and support external audits.
  • Has experience negotiating prime agreements, construction contracts/subcontracts agreements.
  • Reviews upstream (prime contract) / downstream (purchase orders & subcontract) change orders.
  • Analyzes cash‑flow reports.
  • Leads the Interactive Project Planning Meetings (IPPM).
  • Leads the presentation of Project Controls reporting.
  • Validates schedule progress.
  • Analyzes and evaluates schedule management involving the critical path method of scheduling techniques, estimating, project cost management, forecasting and document control.
  • Performs schedule what‑if scenarios.
  • Validates the accuracy of earned‑value management system reporting.
  • Analyzes progress measurement.
  • Analyzes progress curves.
  • Performs and reviews material take-offs.
  • Identifies and oversees the Risk Management process.
  • Performs quality checks and inspections on project controls deliverables.
  • Performs field audits to validate accuracy of reporting and processes.
  • Performs Project Forensic Analysis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field, and 7 years direct project controls experience required.
  • Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Experience with critical path scheduling, project cost management, estimating and document control required.
  • Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 preferred.
  • Ability to facilitate and produce detailed construction schedules and interface those construction schedules with engineering and procurement activities preferred.
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • OSHA 10‑hour safety certification, ability to obtain.
