Engineering Co-op

Begin your career working with some of the top civil engineering experts in the industry. Burgess & Niple is looking for a full-time, summer 2026 Engineering Co-op to join our team in Akron.

• Be a part of the project team and under the supervision of Professional Engineers, performing manhole inspections throughout the City of Canton sewer systems.
• Provide knowledge of municipal infrastructure in a real-life application of civil engineering.
• Locate manholes using GPS (survey equipment), taking pictures using a tablet, and inspecting for infiltration and cracks are the main goals for this work.
• You will be able to gain both field and office experience.

• Current student at an accredited college or university working toward bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying or Mapping.
• Ability to lift manhole covers up to 80 lbs.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products required. AutoCAD or ArcGIS experience a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat and work outdoors.
• Valid driver s license with a good driving record.
