Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement Requirements. The Department of Criminal Justice Studies at the University of Akron (https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor position starting in August 2026.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Law, Public Policy, or a field relevant to crime analysis; OR a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited institution.
- 2 years of demonstrated professional experience in criminal law or crime/criminal intelligence analysis
- Evidence of effective teaching or potential for teaching excellence.
- PhD from accredited institution preferred
- Areas of particular interest include:
- Law and legal studies, including the demonstrated ability to teach courses in basic and advanced criminal law, criminal procedure, courtroom communication, evidence law, legal research and writing, or other law-focused courses.
- Crime analysis, including various analytical methods and techniques relevant to the profession, applied research methods, and data-driven policing strategies.
- Use of technology:
- Competence at the instructor level with technology commonly used in law, or crime and intelligence analysis including computer and geographic information systems.

The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
