Required
:

• Previous interscholastic high school and/or youth tennis coaching experience.
• Appropriate CPR and Pupil Activity Certification prior to beginning of season.
• Strong knowledge of tennis, fundamentals, rules, etc.
• Must be willing to commit to evening and weekend practices and events as dictated by the athletic season schedule.

Desired
:

• Valid Ohio teaching licensure;
• Successful experience as a teacher;
• Current Akron Public Schools full-time contracted teacher.

• Develop and implement the Boys Tennis program within the rules and regulations of the Akron Public Schools and the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
• Assist with the development and coordination of the season schedule.
• Recruit and generate interest in students joining the tennis program.
• Develop conditioning and training programs; implement safety measures as necessary and related to the tennis program.
• Organize and manage practice sessions; ensure safety of student athletes at all times.
• Manage selected coaching staff, ensuring that assigned personnel adhere to guidelines and regulations that pertain to the athletic program.
• Implement and monitor student athlete academic progress; conduct study tables, study sessions, etc., as needed.
• Complete transportation requests according to established procedures; coordinate transportation for away games, events, etc.
• Monitor eligibility of student athletes involved in the tennis program.
• Assist student athletes with college recruitment and scholarship opportunities as applicable.
• Coordinate the use of practice facilities and equipment where applicable.
• Attend appropriate workshops and clinics as necessary to remain abreast of current procedures and requirements.
• Reports to the Athletic Director and Principal.
