- Use the nursing process in providing patient care.
- Participate as a member of the Health Care Team and the Nursing Team.
- Maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice.
- Maintain nursing records and function as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Cross‑training to NICU required.
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing).
- Current BCLS required.
- Current PALS certification required (or commitment to be certified/recertified within 6 months of hire).
- Previous experience in an acute care setting (Postpartum, Labour, Delivery, NICU, Medicine, Critical Care, Surgery, Emergency or Operating Room) required; or recent (within 1 year) consolidation experience in Pediatrics, Postpartum, or Neonatal ICU required.
- Proven paediatric skills with IV initiation and capillary blood collection, proficiency with advanced oxygen delivery systems and NG/G‑tubes required.
- Knowledge of paediatric pathophysiology, especially related to medically complex child and developmental needs of children age newborn‑18 years old required.
- Sound knowledge and application of nursing skills as listed in the CNO.
- B.Sc.N preferred.
- Demonstrated effective organizational, problem‑solving and teaching skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound judgement, good observation and patient assessment skills, tact and empathy.
- Able to perform appropriately in emergency situations.
- Able to lift, turn, transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids.
- Able to assume a leadership/supervisory role.

- Must have a satisfactory performance record.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in‑service education in this area.
