About Grandview Kids
Grandview Kids provides an array of specialized programs, rehabilitation services, and outpatient clinical treatments to children and youth with physical, communication, and developmental needs. Programs and services – which are delivered at the Centre, in the community, at schools, and in-home – include: medical consultation, assessment, and diagnosis; audiology, autism support; complex care program; occupational therapy; physiotherapy; respite services; social work;
speech-language pathology; therapeutic recreation; and family engagement. Grandview Kids actively participates in research to support innovation in rehabilitation science, to advance organizational capabilities, and to better serve caregivers and the developmental needs of their children and adolescents. Grandview Kids is now accepting applications for the position of:
Caretaker (Contract Part - Time) – 2 Positions
- 18.75 hours per week (.5
FTE) - Salary: $26.11 - $30.54 per hour, depending upon experience

We are excited to be accepting applications for the position of Caretaker. The candidate is responsible for carrying out all maintenance, janitorial and cleaning duties in accordance with prescribed methods and work schedules, as assigned by the Building Services Manager, maintains a safe work environment;
maintains building security; performs minor maintenance in the Centre; assists with maintenance of the exterior of the building and grounds; acts as the designate in the absence of other caretaker staff with respect to cleaning of the buildings in the Centre and satellite offices; supports departmental/Centre efforts in Quality Improvement Program (QIP) activities as required; participates in education, orientation and public relations as required;
performs other related duties, as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily and weekly cleaning and vacuuming of assigned areas and rooms as required in accordance with established procedures, schedules and job routines, including but not limited to cleaning of body fluids and potentially infections material, removing dirty and soiled linens for sanitization
- Clean and set up of all offices, staff rooms, common areas, pool areas, storage areas, washrooms, hallways, elevators, and stairwells, including restocking housekeeping and sanitation supplies as needed
- Safely operates housekeeping chemicals and equipment (scrubbers, burnishers, vacuum and steamers)
- Assist with room setup and break-downs for meetings and events
- Maintain building security by ensuring the sites are opened and closed as directed, are free from hazardous situation for staff, clients and visitors, and responding to all emergency codes notification in the building as part of the Internal Emergency Response Plan
- Assist with regular outdoor maintenance activities, including but not limited to:
- Lawn maintenance/shrubs and garden care
- Collecting refuse
- Removing snow and ice
- Assist with minor repairs and paint touch-ups
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, by participating in meetings, staying informed through communication boards, sharing concerns with the supervisor, and ensuring confidentiality
- Support the Quality Improvement Program (QIP) activities by participating in audits and improvement initiatives, and following departmental policies and procedures
- Other duties as required

- Flexible, reliable, with previous cleaning experience in a healthcare environment
