Grandview Kids provides an array of specialized programs, rehabilitation services, and outpatient clinical treatments to children and youth with physical, communication, and developmental needs. Programs and services – which are delivered at the Centre, in the community, at schools, and in-home – include: medical consultation, assessment, and diagnosis; audiology, autism support; complex care program; occupational therapy; physiotherapy; respite services; social work;

speech-language pathology; therapeutic recreation; and family engagement. Grandview offers summer camps for children and youth 4– 12 years of age with physical, communication and developmental needs living in Durham Region. Please note that CAMP will be held in our Ajax location at 1461 Harwood Avenue, Ajax ON.

Grandview Kids is now accepting applications for the position of:

Camp Coordinator, Summer Camp (Contract Full-Time) – 1 Position
  • 37.5 hours per week (1

    FTE)
  • Salary: $22.00 per hour
  • Contract Duration:
    June 22nd, 2026 – August 28th, 2026
  • Core hours for Summer Camp staff are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday.

Summary of Duties

Under the general direction of the Program Manager, Inclusive Recreation the Summer Camp Coordinator ensures the safety of program clients and the integrity of sites; provides leadership, supervision, direction and support to the Head Leaders, Special Needs Counsellors, and nursing students; assists with selection of staff; implements a wide variety of recreational activities; assists in indirect client care through the completion of attendance reports and other administrative responsibilities as required;

provides leadership, direction and support to program volunteers; maintains communication with all other staff members and community representatives; supports departmental/Centre efforts in Quality management (QM) activities; participates in education, orientation and public relations as required; maintains a safe work environment; performs other related duties, as assigned.

Responsibilities

The Camp Coordinator ensures the safety of program clients and the integrity of sites used for activities by:

  • Implementing taking all appropriate measures to reduce risk for program clients
  • Reviewing registration forms and participant profiles prior to start of program to identify clients
  • Requiring additional supervision and support
  • Facilitating pre-camp interviews for all clients and their parent/legal guardian participating in camp
  • Following up on incident reports including recommending actions to prevent reoccurrences
  • Liaising with parent/legal guardians to answer questions and provide program information
  • Collaborate with parents to develop strategies to ensure that clients demonstrate appropriate behaviour, without abusing themselves or others
  • Communicating concerns regarding risk with Program Manager, Inclusive Recreation
  • Providing direction to camp staff that enhance their contribution
  • Effectively communicates feedback received from clients, parents, agencies and other stakeholders to her manager
  • Consistently utilizing safe work practices
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a related post-secondary diploma or baccalaureate program
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Minimum two years experience working with children and youth with special needs
  • Minimum of two years experience working in a camp setting
  • Minimum of two years experience, programming recreation programs
