Reporting to the Project Manager the Procurement Engineer will be part of a high-performing project team dedicated to delivering a multi-year, billion-dollar major rail infrastructure project through collaboration and a best-for-project vision. The Procurement Specialist will oversee the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, vendor selection, and ensuring timely delivery of materials and services that align with project requirements and budget constraints.

This position is based out of Pickering, ON.

What you will be working on:
  • Review purchase requisitions and assign technical requirements and procurement clauses as required per the client’s procedures
  • Researching and identifying potential suppliers, assessing them on quality, reliability, and technical capability
  • Identify items with shelf-life restrictions, as required;
  • Providing oversight review of Technical/Design Specifications and Design/Drawing Bill of Materials (DBOMs) produced by Design Service Providers;
  • Assist the project team in Procurement Engineering-related issues as required, including spare parts CATID’s creation, and setting CATID’s to READY
  • Assist the Quality Control (QC) Receiving Inspectors on matters about received items, as required
  • Work with the vendors, DSP engineering and Procurement to ensure selected equipment design and arrangement satisfies customer specifications along with industry codes and standards
  • Initiate request ’s as required for creating new CATID’s
  • Review vendor drawings and documents during contract execution for compliance with specifications and applicable codes and standards.
  • Confirms that the selected vendor equipment meets applicable codes and will be able to perform to all required guarantees.
  • Identify potential vendors, issue RFQs for highly technical items or services, and evaluate vendor quotations
  • Negotiate contract pricing, delivery schedules, logistics, payment terms, warranties, commercial terms, and other conditions
  • Document the supplier selection process and create, manage, and release purchase orders to vendors
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation is an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with power generation, or other process related, vendor equipment and selection.
  • Knowledge of Nuclear Codes and Standards (CSA N Series, ASME) and nuclear class equipment procurement.
  • Knowledge of other codes and standards (CSA, ASTM, AWWA)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team environment.
