The Role
As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care, and / or the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients.
Assessment of presenting conditions, initiation of investigations, determination of differential diagnosis, initiate treatment, prescribing and where appropriate discharge patients.
In the absence of the Team Leader/ Senior Charge Nurse workload will be assigned by the post holder, who will have responsibility for managing defined workload within professional guidelines and competency framework.

Whatwe'll need you to bring
- Registered Nurse with current revalidation and NMC Registration.
- Educated to/operating at Degree Level.
- Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality.
- Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with this speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within this speciality / area of practice.
- Leadership skills to ensure optimum day to day management of the service.
- Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification e.g. undertake and complete Advanced Clinical Assessment and V300 independent and supplementary prescribing.
- The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
- Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management skills
- Working knowledge of information technology.
- Demonstrable post registration experience.
- Evidence of audit and evaluation of new initiatives.
Fixed Term or Secondment for 12 months

Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
Location and Working PatternThis role will be based in Surgical Ambulatory Care Unit within University Hospital Monklands.
The working pattern for this role is Monday to Sunday Long Days.
