About the Role
The Automation & Manufacturing Engineering team at Seagate Singapore (W1 Manufacturing Operations) supports high‑precision automated systems used in backend HDD manufacturing and final assembly. Our scope includes automated assembly and fastening systems, leak test stations, laser marking and labeling equipment, robotic material handling modules, and automated packaging solutions.
We partner closely with Process, Equipment, Industrial Engineering, Production, Quality, and EHS teams to ensure safe, stable, and efficient 24/7 operations while meeting site targets for yield, output, equipment OEE, cycle time, and overall manufacturing cost.
Responsibilities- Lead the installation, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), and daily operation of backend automation equipment at the Singapore site.
- Define, monitor, and optimize machine parameters, process recipes, calibration intervals, and equipment performance KPIs.
- Drive real‑time troubleshooting and structured root cause analysis (5‑Why, Fishbone, DMAIC) to reduce downtime and prevent recurrence.
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs, analyze PM effectiveness, and continuously improve equipment reliability and OEE.
- Maintain accurate equipment history, change control records, calibration logs, and compliance documentation in accordance with Seagate standards.
- Ensure strict compliance with EHS and safety requirements, including LOTO, MSDS, chemical safety, and equipment‑specific hazard controls.
- Train, coach, and certify technicians and operators on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and emergency response.
- Support new product introduction (NPI), automation upgrades, and cross‑functional engineering initiatives.
- Collaborate with IT/OT, data engineering, and Industry 4.0 teams to enhance automation capability, connectivity, predictive maintenance, and data‑driven decision making.
- Strong safety mindset, disciplined, and detail‑oriented.
- Hands‑on engineer with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communicator and collaborative team player across multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Self‑driven, results‑oriented, and committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, or related Engineering discipline.
- Experience supporting automated manufacturing systems, including PLCs, robotics, conveyors, pneumatic and electrical systems.
- Working knowledge of preventive maintenance, calibration practices, and EHS standards (LOTO, MSDS, chemical safety).
- Hands‑on experience in equipment troubleshooting and structured problem solving within a manufacturing environment.
