CAD Drafting Manager

IS Integral, a joint venture between Advanced Energy Solutions Ltd. (UK) and Integral Energy Services (Canada), is a global leader and supplier of Contra Flex® Insulation soft covers (jackets/blankets). Our facility is located in Airdrie, Alberta, Canada and produces Contra Flex® thermal/heat conservation, acoustic, winterization and certified fireproof soft covers (PFP).

We offer a full turnkey service including surveys, design, manufacture, and installation.

We are seeking a responsible CAD Drafter to create drawings for the manufacturing process and, when required, for client approval. The drafter will produce designs for insulation soft covers on valves, flanges, actuators, spools, mechanical equipment (turbines, pumps, tanks, vessels), instruments, junction boxes, and structural steel.

Responsibilities

• Provide lead CAD and drafting support for new and existing products and support the manufacturing process when needed.
• Prepare engineering drawings and specifications from prototype to full production, including design layouts, component and assembly drawings, and final production specifications.
• Maintain engineering drawing databases and support the engineering change process by updating existing documentation and creating new documents.
• Create new and update existing CAD drawings in AutoCAD (2D)
  * current* and possibly Solidworks (3D)
  * future*.
• Participate as a member of project/production teams and interact with interdisciplinary teams to develop and document new products, line extensions, or product feature enhancements.
• Perform component and assembly drawing layouts.
• Ensure documentation standards are met for all new and existing products prior to the manufacturing process.
• Support the engineering change process by tracking and acting on drawing and specification change requests in a timely manner.
• Maintain product drawings through the use of AutoCAD.
• Initiate engineering change orders and manage the implementation of revised documents through to release in the document control system.
• Provide detailing and drawing expertise to product management and external vendors.

Requirements and Skills

• Diploma in technical drafting or drafting certification minimum.
• 5–15 years of experience in drafting, preferably in mechanical or structural drafting.
• Experience working with AutoCAD and Solidworks.
• Proven work experience as a CAD drafting manager/lead in an industrial soft cover manufacturing organization is an asset.
• Fast learner and openness to new technologies.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, hand‑sketch equipment to be surveyed with detailed measurements.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills, including multitasking and time‑management.
• Strong client‑facing and teamwork skills.
• Experience with in the industrial sector (petrochemical, oil & gas, food processing, manufacturing, mining).
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to travel throughout Western Canada for extended periods in camp environments.
• Subject to frequent D&A testing required for site surveying client oil & gas facilities and industrial plants.

• H2S Alive, CSTS, OSSA, CSO, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Elevated Work Platform, WHMIS.

Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (drivers abstract required).
