Overview

Pro Sidian Seeks an Industrial Hygiene Technician (IHT) - Industrial Hygiene (IH103) as an Engagement Team Member, located across the Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina, supporting Environmental Management Sector requirements for an engagement with Savannah River Remediation (SRMC) at the Savannah River Site. The position is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Job Overview

Provide services as an Industrial Hygiene Technician (IHT) (IH103) at Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina. Work collaboratively as part of the Pro Sidian Engagement Team as Non-Exempt W2: 1.5x overtime eligible personnel. Dedicated Planned Labor Hours (DPLH) of 1280 straight time (ST) hours per year and 200 overtime (OT) hours per year. This is a labor hour subcontract or contract W-2 position;

Responsibilities

and Duties
  • Industrial Hygiene Technician (IHT) - Industrial Hygiene (IH103)
  • Work as a Seasonal Heat Stress Technician and provide seasonal heat stress support across three facilities; provide field support for the Industrial Hygiene Program and ensure Federal, State, Company, and Site requirements regarding exposure to potential physical and chemical hazards to facility personnel.
  • Perform field industrial hygiene evaluations (e.g., heat strain, chemicals)
  • Perform worker exposure assessments for chemical and physical hazards
  • Prepare technical reports
  • Communicate issues and results with employees and management in a professional manner
  • Responsibilities & Expectations: support facility work priorities and assigned schedules, including rotating shifts and overtime (overtime must be approved prior to work). Schedules and facility assignments will rotate as deemed necessary; overtime will be limited to the extent practical and rotated to share opportunities
  • Complete required training and qualifications, including the function of electronic heat stress monitoring software used to evaluate workers’ core body temperature against established thresholds. See the information at  for more details
  • Issue and collect monitoring equipment, including daily and long-term monitoring
  • Clean and disinfect arm bands after use, following established procedures
  • Monitor and respond to software notifications that evaluate workers’ core body temperature against established thresholds
  • Monitor use and maintenance of heat stress equipment to confirm placement in dedicated locations
  • Perform surveillance and workplace inspections to confirm compliance with heat stress requirements
  • Submit reports using established inspection criteria and report templates (e.g., Management Field Observations)
  • Perform other IH monitoring as assigned and trained/qualified to perform
  • Perform work and make decisions commensurate with assigned scope of work, knowledge, skills, abilities, training, and qualification
  • Maintain required records and documentation in a timely and accurate manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 3+ years’ experience providing industrial hygiene / technician experience, or 5+ years experience troubleshooting or repairing mechanical equipment or electronics
  • Operational knowledge of computer databases and office programs (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Liquid Waste review of subcontractor personnel resumes
  • May be required to drive government vehicles
  • Will be required to pass testing for Radiological Worker II and maintain IH equipment qualifications
Education / Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to use electronic monitoring tools and basic database data entry
Skills and Competencies
  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Adobe)
