Overview

Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273-bed acute care facility providing quality healthcare to the residents of Aiken and surrounding communities since 1917. The facility has been recognized for treatment of heart attack, heart failure, stroke, and coronary artery disease. Aiken Regional provides services including behavioral health (Aurora Pavilion Behavioral Health), emergency medical care (main hospital and ER at Sweetwater), orthopedic surgeries, maternity, rehabilitation services (Hitchcock Rehabilitation Services), imaging, and wound care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Occupational Therapy services in the inpatient rehab setting, including evaluation, treatment plan development, treatment, delegation of treatment, and discharge planning, in accordance with facility policy, standards, and philosophy.
  • Conduct evaluations considering medical history, physician orders, patient capabilities, and patient expectations
  • Develop appropriate treatment plans aligned with assessment and diagnostic outcomes, incorporating patient goals with a focus on discharge planning
  • Implement treatment plans using approved methods, techniques, modalities, and procedures
  • Participate in committees and task forces as appropriate
  • Educate patients and families in preparation for discharge
  • Meet documentation standards for patient charts
  • Charge accurately for services rendered
  • Perform thorough and efficient chart reviews to prepare for patient care
  • Maintain positive and professional communication with interdisciplinary team members
  • Deliver timely and cost-effective services
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • Delegate patient care to a COTA, if applicable, following supervisory requirements
  • Assist other departments during staffing shortages

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Education requirements: Degree from an accredited program of Occupational Therapy (Bachelor's or Master's)
  • Work experience requirements: Prefer 1 year experience in inpatient rehab setting but not required
  • Required licenses/certifications/courses: Current SC license, BLS
  • Required skills, knowledge and abilities: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written; strong interpersonal skills; clinical competence. Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessments by the facility.
