Job Family DescriptionEngineering roles perform engineering work in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments. They may design and scale up manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment and tests manufactured products to maintain quality. They may plan, design, and estimate time and cost and oversees construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, systems, and components. They analyze and develop solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures.
They develop and apply engineering standards and procedures and provide advice on issues within the engineering field.
Engineering - Multidiscipline personnel typically manage a multidiscipline group of engineers. Responsibilities are within the Engineering Function as a generalist or in a combination of disciplines.
Some TypicalDuties & Responsibilities Include
The position responsibilities include but are not limited to: management and oversight of multiple technical groups under Production Technology including Pit Technology, Production Modernization, Pit Engineering and Technical Applications. The Pit Technology group is responsible for design of all classified and unclassified tooling, fixturing, and training objects;
War Reserve (WR) and mock WR product definition management and local configuration control;
Transformation of product definition into manufacturing definition and configuration control, management of product and manufacturing definition requirements, NC code programming of all SRPPF machine tool equipment; development and implementation of product lifecycle management systems; process development; flowsheet development and management;
Defense Programs Business Process System (DPBPS) product realization process product qualification planning and execution; system modelling and simulation; collaboration with Weapons Design laboratories; providing subject matter expertise to support the SRPPF Project. The Production Modernization is responsible for programmatic interface with SRS IT/OT organizations; software management and project management of IT/OT needs to meet SRS's pit mission. Pit Engineering is the matrixed organization with the responsibility of system and equipment engineering for the SRPPF project facilities.
Technical Applications is responsible for developing staffing pipelines with local universities and collaborative relationships with LANL and the southwest regional universities that provide education in pit related manufacturing processes. Additionally, the Deputy Director will have responsibilities in development and management of budgets and staffing; interfacing with multiple NSE working groups.
- Fifteen or more YOE as an individual contributor in one or more of the roles managed plus six or more years of experience (YOE) in a relevant management role, OR Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field plus twelve or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed, OR Master's Degree in a relevant field plus eight or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed
- Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered
- Experience in NNSA Facility operations management
- NSE experience in DPBPS product realization process
