Job Family Description

Engineering roles perform engineering work in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments. They may design and scale up manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment and tests manufactured products to maintain quality. They may plan, design, and estimate time and cost and oversees construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, systems, and components. They analyze and develop solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures.

They develop and apply engineering standards and procedures and provide advice on issues within the engineering field.

Discipline Description

Engineering - Multidiscipline personnel typically manage a multidiscipline group of engineers. Responsibilities are within the Engineering Function as a generalist or in a combination of disciplines.

Responsibilities Include:

The manager positions will be supporting the Materials Disposition Engineering Group in H-Area and/or the Spent Fuel Project in L-Area.

One of the positions will be the support of the Engineering Academy Effort in H-Area which will involve the training and mentoring of new engineers assigned to H-Area. The other position is for the management of the process engineering group in L-Area.
The goal of the Engineering Academy effort is to provide practical, real facility experience for Design Authority engineers who are new in their careers s will require close integration with the Site Engineering Training, Site Training, and the Sponsoring Facility which will be SRPPF in addition to new H-Canyon Engineers.
The goal of the L-Area Process engineering manager will be the short- and long-term management of engineering personnel responsible for all aspects of spent fuel management in L-Area necessary to achieve L-Area Mission and Milestones.
Selection and placement will be dependent upon the candidate skillset and strengths as they relate to the roles of Engineering Academy Manager or Process Engineering Manager.
Either position provides technical oversight and engineering support for a facility by managing engineering programs, schedules, budget, personnel, and equipment to support facility startup and to ensure safe, efficient operation of nuclear facilities. Control the technical baseline through approval authority of procedures, technical reports, engineering calculations and design modifications.
Serve as the primary engineering interface for resolution of daily facility issues and prioritize assignments to support overall facility objectives.
The primary responsibility is to perform and manage the Design Authority role for a facility. This entails many specific duties including:
