Overview
We are seeking experienced Field Engineers to support upcoming nuclear projects. In this role, you will provide specialized field engineering support across work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification, safety and quality assurance, technical inspections and testing, and subcontract coordination. Through your technical expertise, guidance, and recommendations, you will help ensure field operations are executed safely, completed on schedule, and fully compliant with quality standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
RequiredNuclear Experience
Prior nuclear experience is required to be considered. Candidates must have prior experience working in nuclear environments. Qualified experience includes:
- Plant Vogtle
- DOE sites under Bechtel
- Other commercial nuclear power plants
Previous employment with Bechtel is strongly preferred.
Major Responsibilities Specialization & Technical Expertise- Provide in-depth knowledge and expertise within a specific discipline, subject matter, or specialized construction process.
- Deliver technical consultation and field engineering support to active construction projects.
- Perform field work including walk-downs and data collection for existing utility systems, facilities, structures, and components.
- Develop and support innovative technical solutions to complex or unique construction challenges, exercising sound judgment and creativity.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of modeling, drawing, and drafting principles, accurately applying symbols, notes, and design intent.
- Read, verify, and markup multi-discipline drawings (gas, water, electric, sanitary, and related systems).
- Independently define technical objectives for assignments when procedures are not clearly established.
- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance facility performance and operational efficiency.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team with minimal supervision.
- Communicate technical information clearly through strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Plan and prepare detailed work package instructions.
- Conduct field walkdowns to identify hazards, assess risks, and determine required safety controls.
- Support work package preparation by submitting welding/grinding permits, hold/witness points, and required approvals.
- Verify work instructions for accuracy and compliance with all applicable procedures and requirements.
- Prepare construction drawings and field sketches as needed.
- Ensure accurate preparation and completion of as-built documentation.
- Initiate requisitions for field-purchased materials and equipment.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs to support material procurement and cost control.
- Promote and enforce a zero-accident safety culture.
- Verify that safety requirements are implemented and followed by all workers and visitors in operational areas.
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in safe condition and used properly at all times.
- Support quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with project, company, and regulatory standards.
- Prior experience working at a nuclear power plant or DOE site (required).
- Previous experience working under Bechtel (preferred).
- Strong understanding of construction engineering practices, nuclear safety culture, and quality requirements.
- Ability to work in a regulated, safety-sensitive environment.
- Must have valid driver s license
- Must participate in pre-employment and random drug screening program.
- Subject to a background screening process
