Industrial Hygiene and Safety Professional
CEIS | Government is seeking a highly experienced Industrial Hygienist / Safety Professional to support complex construction and infrastructure projects within a federal environment. This full-time role requires hands-on fieldwork, technical documentation review, and strategic hazard identification across a range of dynamic job sites.
The successful candidate will possess deep industrial hygiene expertise, a proactive field presence, and a strong ability to support both compliance and worker health in high-hazard construction settings.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform project oversight inspections from an industrial hygiene perspective on active construction projects.
- Conduct industrial hygiene hazard assessments to identify, evaluate, and mitigate exposure risks.
- Execute field assessments and worksite audits focused on occupational health and environmental safety.
- Determine appropriate sampling strategies for airborne contaminants, noise, and other IH-related concerns.
- Review safety plans, health exposure assessments, and technical documentation for completeness and compliance.
- Attend and actively contribute to project meetings, pre-construction briefings, and safety planning sessions.
- Maintain thorough records of inspections, assessments, and field recommendations in alignment with regulatory expectations.
- Support a culture of safety and health by collaborating with field teams, management, and EH&S staff.
- Must be physically capable of climbing ladders/stairs, working in hot or cold environments, and operating a motor vehicle for job site access.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of direct experience in Industrial Hygiene with emphasis on construction and infrastructure environments.
- Demonstrated experience in exposure assessment, sampling strategy development, hazard identification, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven ability to operate independently in the field and contribute to multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interfacing with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification such as CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), CSP, or equivalent is a plus.
- Previous federal, DOE, or DOD project experience.
- Familiarity with OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, and other relevant health and safety standards.
