Job Description

Provide technical support services for the Project Management Office (PMO, DOE/NNSA office of Acquisition and Project Management).

Ideal candidates will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to work independently and collaboratively, thrive on exceeding expectations, be highly organized, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Provide technical expertise to the SRPPF, SPD, TFF, and other assigned projects for compliant implementation of DOE Orders and Directives for security-related designs, construction, and operability.
  • As a member of the Security team, ensure the security design and construction phases of the project are well integrated and meet DOE order requirements for personnel security, information security, technical security, nuclear material control and accountability, program management, physical security, security systems, protective force, protection and control of classified matter, and implementation of the Design Basis Threat.
  • Review and assess development of Preliminary, Conceptual, and Final Vulnerability Assessments (VAs), Security Design Requirements Document (SDRD), SRPPF Staffing Plan, Security Milestones and Deliverables, Site Security Plan (SSP), and Security Risk Assessments (SRAs).
  • Conduct Safeguards and Security Surveys and Security Risk Assessments for new security areas or the downgrade/expansion of existing areas.
  • Participate as a Safeguards and Security SME in Independent Project Reviews (IPR) and Technical Independent Project Reviews (TIPR) in support of the SRPPF Project.
  • Review security-related comments on documents such as System Design Description (SDD) and Facility Design Description (FDD).
  • Contribute as a subject matter expert individually or with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve complex technical and operational problems.
  • Assist in scheduling, coordinating, and conducting security risk assessments of contractors and NNSA; review findings and propose compliant corrective actions for NNSA final approval.
  • Develop cross-walks and matrices; review NNSA Policy Documents (NAPs), analyses, plans, and procedures; cross-check other federal procedures for references to superseded directives.
Job Requirements
  • Must possess a degree in Engineering, Science, or related discipline. An advanced degree is a plus.
  • Degrees in security management, computer science, information technology, business management, criminal justice or related field are a plus.
  • Must have at least 15 years of experience on large complex nuclear projects (>$100M) with multi-discipline integration.
  • Must demonstrate 10 years of experience in developing electrical design calculations, drawings, specifications, and requirements.
  • Minimum 5 years of design experience on a DOE PC-3/SDC-3 (DOE-STD-1020) Facility or equivalent commercial nuclear facility.
  • Knowledge of nuclear safety-related electrical power systems.
  • Experience with DOE Orders and Standards, NEC, IEEE, IEC, NFPA 70e, NEMA, and other applicable codes and standards.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact with all management levels.
