COUNTRY CLUB CONTROLLER
The position requires an experienced Controller who will oversee the Accounting, Budgeting / Finance, and internal IT functions within the club. The Controller will service and support all club operations, lead the accounting department, and develop efficient processes in a dynamic office environment.
Brief DescriptionThe Controller will collaborate with the General Manager/COO to provide analysis that supports club operations and strategic decisions. Monthly financial statements and specialized reports will be submitted for review, highlighting operational trends. The role requires a strong understanding of private club structures and a commitment to transparent communication and best accounting practices. The Controller will support the club’s member service culture and work as a mentor to align the team with the General Manager/COO’s vision.

Reports to:
General Manager/COO
- Provide collaborative support, thinking, and analytical reporting to the General Manager/COO.
- Formulate, review, and ensure the integrity of accounting and recordkeeping procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and related tax returns.
- Maintain compliance with all required licenses.
- Work closely with the General Manager/COO and department heads in operating and capital budget preparation and presentation.
- Supervise and manage the duties and responsibilities of the property accountant.
- Collaborate with General Manager/COO, Corporate Controller, property accountant, department heads, owner, vendors, audit firm, and employees.
- Prepare reviews and provide timely analysis for the club on all financial records and reporting, including:
- Monthly KPI, operating statement, balance sheet, cash flow, membership reports, member equity tracking, and capital spending.
- Accounts payable/receivables, cash management, account reconciliations, petty cash, bank deposits, and auto payments.
- Member statements, aging reports, spending reports, capital asset tracking, depreciation schedule, and capital asset reserve reporting.
- Conduct ad hoc reporting, trend analysis, budget forecasting, preparation, and analysis.
- Provide support and record keeping as required for:
- Microsoft 360 programs.
- Zoom, collaborative meeting programs, and remote access programs.
- Social media platforms and apps.
- Ability to work in a TEAM-ORIENTED club environment.
- Excellent work ethic, leadership, and communication skills.
- Expert knowledge in club hospitality accounting functions, cash flow, and project analysis.
- Strong analytical skills and Excel skills with a high degree of error‑free reporting.
- Knowledge of Jonas is a distinct plus, as is the ability to learn and adapt quickly.

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred; additional higher education and certifications are a distinct plus.
