Job DetailsWe are looking for an experienced Medical Laboratory Technician to perform routine and moderately complex laboratory tests across multiple diagnostic areas, including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and toxicology. The successful candidate will analyze body fluids and specimens, ensure the accuracy of test results, and maintain laboratory equipment.
Required Qualifications- One year of recent experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician
- Valid license when required by state regulations
- National certification through ASCP or equivalent such as AMT, AAB, HEW
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
As a Medical Laboratory Technician you will assist in performing routine and moderately complex laboratory tests across multiple diagnostic areas, ensuring accurate results, and maintaining equipment.
Essential Work Functions- Perform routine diagnostic laboratory tests in chemistry, hematology, and immunology
- Prepare and process specimens for analysis, ensuring accurate labeling and handling
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results by following quality control protocols
- Follow standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines (AABB, CAP, FDA, CLIA)
- Support investigation of transfusion reactions by collecting and preparing necessary samples
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, performing troubleshooting within scope
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and elevate issues as needed
- Communicate test results clearly and professionally to other healthcare professionals
- Follow laboratory safety guidelines, infection control protocols, and hospital procedures
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of test results, calibrations, and quality control measures
- Assist with inventory management, reagent preparation, and stocking lab supplies
- Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
- Physical Abilities – remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lb), push, pull, bend
- Interpersonal Skills – work effectively with a variety of personnel to present a positive attitude and professionalism
- Technical/Motor Skills – grasp, fine manipulation, push/pull, move during procedures
- Mental Requirements – cope with frequent contact with public, meet deadlines under pressure, work with or without supervision, handle irregular schedules, focus on detail
