Responsibilites:
Formulation Development:
Design, develop, and optimize innovative and stable formulations for skin care, cosmetics, and oral care products (e.g., creams, serums, shampoos, toothpaste, etc.).
Technical Leadership:
Provide expertise in raw material selection, stability testing, and scalability for manufacturing.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure formulations meet global regulatory standards (FDA, EU, ISO, COSMOS, etc.).
Testing & Validation:
Conduct stability, compatibility, and performance testing to ensure product efficacy and safety.
Process Improvement:
Troubleshoot production issues and refine formulations for cost-efficiency without compromising quality.
Documentation:
Maintain detailed lab records, SOPs, and technical reports for internal and client review.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Marketing, QA/QC, and Production teams to align R&D efforts with business goals.
Guide junior chemists and lab technicians in best practices and innovation.
Requirements
Strong expertise in cosmetic chemistry, emulsion systems, surfactants, and polymer science.
Proficiency in formulating skin care (e.g., anti-aging, moisturizers), cosmetics (makeup, colorants), and/or oral care products.
Experience with rheology modifiers, preservative systems, and active ingredients (e.g., peptides, retinoids, hyaluronic acid).
Knowledge of GMP, ISO 22716, and regulatory guidelines for cosmetics/personal care.
Familiarity with lab equipment (e.g., viscometers, pH meters, FTIR, HPLC).
Soft Skills:
Innovative mindset with a passion for developing cutting-edge products.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
Excellent communication (written & verbal) for cross-departmental collaboration.
Leadership ability to mentor junior team members.
Education &
Certifications:
Bachelor s/Master s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Additional certifications (e.g., SCC Diploma, Regulatory Affairs) are a plus.
Preferred Experience:
5+ years in R&D formulation within skin care, cosmetics, or oral care.
Experience in private label/OEM manufacturing is highly desirable.
Proven track record of successful product launches.
