Job Location: Agawam Store - Agawam, MA 01001

Position Type: Part Time

Salary Range: $15.00 - $16.00 Hourly

Job Shift: Any

This position will provide friendly, courteous, and helpful service and assistance to customers at the check stand, bagging groceries, providing carryout service of customers purchases, and in other areas of the store as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner consistent with store’s safety policies and procedures.
  • Recognizes and follows all cashier policies and procedures.
  • Reports promptly to workstation at the beginning of shift and following lunch and breaks.
  • Opens cash register to itemize and total customer’s purchases. This includes accountability for cash, lottery tickets, cash cards, etc.
  • Reviews price sheets to note price changes and sale items.
  • Acknowledges, greets, and projects a positive attitude, and thanks each customer.
  • Handles groceries with extreme care, quickly separates and groups like items.
  • Has competency in all aspects of bagging.
  • Collects cash, check, or charge payment from customer and tenders accurate change in accordance with store policy and procedures.
  • Handles damaged or spoiled products and return-to-stock (“go-backs”) according to front-end and store procedures.
  • Performs price checks as needed.
  • Effectively handles customer complaints and contacts a manager when necessary.
  • Assists with cleanup of spills, breakages, and other maintenance duties at the check stand/cashier or booth area.
  • Participates in training activities to increase personal skill levels and improve overall department processes and customer service.
  • Maintains an organized and clean work area, cleans belt and register regularly.
  • Meets the physical requirements to perform the job functions listed above.
  • Provides light supervision and training of other associates when assigned.
  • Ensure the proper identification is produced when selling alcohol, tobacco, and lottery tickets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the department head or other management personnel.
Qualifications

Competencies:

  • Friendly.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Good communication/listening skills.
  • Basic math skills preferred.
  • Prior cashier or sales experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to lift (up to 50 lb.)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
