- Use precision inspection equipment to verify every part meets dimensional and quality requirements.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues to ensure maximum uptime and part quality.
- Support machine operators when questions or problems arise.
- Select, specify, and manage cutting tools and holders optimized for aerospace materials.
- Maintain tool inventory levels and collaborate with Purchasing to ensure availability and cost control.
- Evaluate new tooling technologies, vendors, and strategies to improve performance, reduce cost, and enhance tool life.
- Establish and maintain standardized tool libraries and Mastercam toolpath templates to improve consistency and repeatability.
- Design and manufacture required fixtures for machining and assembly operations.
- Maintain standardized tool management systems and documentation.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machine tools as needed.
- Ensure machining processes enable unattended or lights‑out machining whenever possible.
- Ensure all machining operations comply with AS9100 and customer‑specific aerospace requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation, traceability, and revision control.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to address nonconformances and implement corrective actions.
- Follow all company safety requirements when working with cutting tools, fixtures, and CNC machinery.
- Keep the Machine Shop Manager informed of issues that could impact quality, productivity, or delivery.
- Work closely with machinists, supervisors, engineers, and quality inspectors to resolve technical challenges.
- Provide technical support during program prove‑outs and machine operator training.
- Attend or conduct meetings as required to support planning, improvement, and problem‑solving.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the Machine Shop Manager.
- Minimum 5 years of CNC machining or programming experience in aerospace or high‑precision manufacturing.
- Strong experience programming with Mastercam (multi‑axis milling).
- Hands‑on CNC setup experience, preferably on Okuma 5‑axis and Haas vertical mills.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and aerospace documentation standards.
- Familiar with AS9100 quality system requirements.
- Proficient with precision inspection tools and methods.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Skilled in fixture design, tool selection, and machining strategy optimization.
- Experience with Okuma OSP controls and G‑code editing.
- Familiarity with lean, 5S, or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Ability to thrive in a high‑mix, low‑volume aerospace environment with tight tolerances.
- Strong analytical thinking and process‑oriented mindset.
