OPERATOR

Salary Range: $27.00 To $32.22 Hourly

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for directing a two-man press crew and the overall direction and coordination of this crew. Works to ensure good teamwork and productivity. Directs all complaints to the shift Foreman should a crew member need professional adjustment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate the print press with total hands‑on control.
  • Follows written and verbal requests from the shift Foreman pertaining to each job.
  • Total understanding of the settings and controls of the print press and its operation.
  • Verify each job is set up correctly on the press and sign off as confirmation.
  • Responsible for the overall direction and coordination of a two-man press crew.
  • Oversees, regulates and dictates individual responsibilities to each member of the press crew during the course of each shift.
  • Interacts with shift Foreman for support between operator and press crew, as needed.
  • Continually ensures the press crew receives the correct information to carry out the proper assignments, while working as a team.
  • Enter and save all pertinent data, to the proper operation of the press, for each individual job and record this information to each job packet for future reference.
  • Controls all punches accurately into the BDE System.
  • Color match and make necessary “ink hits” to individual print nits, in order to bring each job on color to match the master standard of the job.
  • Solid understanding of the quality parameters of each design that is printed.
  • Background knowledge to understand and correct any deficiencies in quality.
  • Work safely in accordance with all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Strong and consistent color matching ability.
  • Work with the press crew to get the press running and keep it running efficiently.
  • Constant meter‑by‑meter observation of print quality.
  • Paper quality issues are pended and sent for inspection.
  • Keep the press crew engaged and focused.
  • Discuss press crew deficiencies with the shift Foreman or supervisor.
  • Follows input from the shift Foreman and translate it to the press crew.
  • Confirm information is handed over to the incoming shift and press operator in a clear and precise manner.
  • Monitor the press crew have fulfilled their individual responsibilities and have made the proper shift change.
  • Notate to the incoming and outgoing shift Foreman, all technical observations of concerning the product currently in process.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.

TRAINING PROGRAM

Ability to understand and progress through the “training matrix” set up for this position. The training matrix is a grading program used to assess the employee’s ability to understand and follow through on instructions, both written and verbal. Failure to successfully complete the training matrix could potentially compromise the position.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Ability to competently navigate and use the timekeeping and time‑off request applications.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Individual must have the ability to interpret situations and clearly communicate as needed. Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one‑on‑one and small group settings from managers, employees and/or customers.
