Job DescriptionThe Affton School District seeks a visionary leader with a systems perspective to serve as their next high school principal. The high school principal will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to form positive relationships with staff, students, and parents. The high school principal will be charged with continuously improving innovative teaching and learning with a focus on academic excellence, creative problem solving, and social emotional learning.
Qualified applicants should possess a vision for personalized learning and be able to articulate strategies they intend to utilize to build consensus around new ideas and practices.
- 12-month position with district-recognized holidays, Winter and Spring breaks, and 20 vacation days
- Minimum starting salary is $135,000 annually; placement is commensurate with experience and degree
- District provided benefits package that includes employee health, dental, life and vision insurance
- Employment contract begins 7/1/26
- Must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Educational Administration, additional education preferred.
- Missouri Administrator Certification for grades 9-12 required.
- Requires a minimum of three years of successful teaching experience, preferably in secondary education.
- Missouri teaching certification is required, preferably at the secondary level.
- Prefers secondary administrative or internship experience.
- Strong organizational skills and instructional leadership skills are required.
- Skills as a connected and digital leader are required.
- Experience in supporting and facilitating professional development for staff focusing on technology integration in the instructional process is required.
- Evidence of a strong professional learning network that supports innovative practices is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and positive interaction with students, staff, and the Affton community are required.
- Ability to supervise staff and perform classroom observations along with evaluating professional development plans and units of instruction.
- Ability to implement and sustain programs focused on improving student achievement within a diverse school setting with energy and enthusiasm is required.
- Extensive listening and relationship building skills with staff, students, and families required.
- Initiative to collaboratively solve problems and implement research-based solutions are required.
- Ability to follow district policies and effectively implement school procedures with staff, students, and families are required.
- Understand IEP and 504 processes along with the ability to work collaboratively with special education staff, processes, and requirements.
