Position:
Full Time Chaplain – Spiritual and Social Care team at Adrian Dominican Sisters Mother house Campus, Adrian, MI.
We are seeking a Full Time Chaplain to work 40 hours per week as a member of the Spiritual and Social Care team, supporting and celebrating the Sisters’ spiritual life. The role involves working closely with nursing and administrative staff to provide religious, social, and spiritual guidance within the Dominican Life Center (the Sisters’ retirement community on the Mother house campus). Chaplains collaborate with Sisters to deepen prayer life, grieve the losses of aging and transition, strengthen hope for a purposeful life, and nourish preparation for entry into eternal life.

HoursMonday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Exempt salary position with weekends, holidays, and rotating 24‑hour on‑call periods as assigned.
Pay Range$54,000 – $64,000 per year, depending on experience.
Duties and Responsibilities- Supports Sisters in deepening their spiritual growth.
- Journeys with Sisters through life's celebrations and challenges.
- Accompanies Sisters during illness, emotional stress, and times of hospitalization.
- Supports Sisters in addressing end‑of‑life issues with autonomy.
- Provides presence for Sisters transitioning into eternal life, offering support to their friends, families, and co‑workers.
- Offers support and assistance with services such as vigils, funeral masses, and various support groups on campus.
- Collaborates with administration, co‑workers, interdisciplinary teams, Chapter/Mission Prioresses, and the Liturgical Ministries Department.
- Pursues opportunities for professional development in gerontology and spiritual care.
Degree in pastoral or social work field or equivalent experience required.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Well‑developed communication and listening skills.
- Emotionally and spiritually mature.
- Able to use a holistic approach to care.
- Well‑grounded in relationship to God and practice of prayer.
- Capable of functioning under stress and coping with crisis and grief situations.
- Experience and ability to be present, supportive, and compassionate when engaging all Sisters, particularly those living with dementia and memory loss.
- Able to multi‑task and function well in a team setting.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Be able to move from location to location on campus.
- Have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive when necessary.
- Must pass a third‑party driving test.
- Be able to assist Sisters in and out of vehicles and buildings as necessary.
- Be sighted and able to hear well.
- Be able to lift at least 45 pounds.
- Annual influenza vaccination is required for this position.
