About the Role:

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in Addlestone, Surrey. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with a range of additional needs and who thrives in a nurturing, structured environment.

Key Responsibilities as a Learning Support Assistant: â­

Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH needs, speech & language difficulties, or global developmental delay.

Implement personalised strategies and follow Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs).

Use a calm, patient approach to help pupils regulate emotions and stay engaged in learning.

Support communication, sensory needs, and independence skills using tailored resources and interventions.

Assist the class teacher and SENCO in adapting activities and creating inclusive, accessible lessons.

Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, and confidence in all pupils.

â­  About You â­  

Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, specialist provision, outreach, youth work or care settings).

A calm, empathetic, and supportive nature with a genuine passion for SEN education.

Ability to build trusting relationships and use a consistent, structured approach.

Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Willingness to learn specific SEN strategies (e.g. sensory regulation, visual supports, PECs, Makaton, de-escalation techniques).

(Preferred) Experience in autism support, behaviour mentoring, or complex needs.
