Job SummaryThe DAS Technician is a hands-on role working closely with the Construction Manager and other Installation Technicians. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Installing DAS and BTS wireless equipment, including outdoor and indoor antennas, coaxial cable, fiber optic cable, CATV cable, CAT 5 cable, DC power cable, and other components to NEC standards.
- Mounting rack, wall, and ceiling-mounted electronic DAS components.
- Fusion splicing fiber and conducting testing.
- Connectorizing 50-ohm RF cables and testing.
- Troubleshooting new and existing DAS systems.
- Performing RF coverage testing and optimization pre- and post-construction.
- Conducting RF and cabling site surveys.
- Utilizing computer skills, including IP interfaces to GUI programmable systems.
- Wiring DC power plants and low voltage circuits.
- Testing RF cables (Sweep, PIM) and fiber.
- Completing documentation and record keeping related to jobs.
- Keeping customers and the company informed of installation progress.
- Analytical thinking with the ability to analyze data and make sound decisions.
- Conflict management and resolution skills to build consensus and solve problems.
- Results-focused, capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills for interpreting policies and presenting information.
- Relationship-building skills to work effectively within a dynamic team and provide leadership.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience with BTS and DAS installations.
- Knowledge of terminology used in the in-building DAS industry.
- Ability to install, terminate, and splice fiber optic cables; strong understanding of DAS and BTS infrastructure.
- Valid driver's license.
- Dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work at heights using proper fall protection.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint).
- Understanding of project scope and requirements for proactive management.
- Willingness and ability to travel 80-100%.
- Use of hand and power tools.
- Climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Carrying loads up and down stairs.
- Exposure to noisy, dusty conditions, chemicals, solvents, and hazards.
- Work hours typically Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with support outside regular hours as needed.
- Indoor and outdoor work with variable conditions.
- Regional travel required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
