Material Handler, Operations Engineer

This position will be full‑time located at our Addison, TX facilities with occasional travel potentially required (approximately 10%).
Position DetailsThe Material Handler will play a critical role in supporting all Energetics logistics operations by ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant handling, storage, and transportation of energetic materials and related components within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This position requires strict adherence to safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and operational procedures to maintain the integrity of the supply chain and support mission readiness.
Responsibilities- Material Handling and Storage: Safely handle, store, and transport energetic materials, including explosives, propellants, and pyrotechnics, in compliance with DoD regulations and safety standards. Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper labeling and documentation of all materials.
- Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and specialized tools, to move and store materials.
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all applicable federal regulations, including OSHA standards, DoD safety protocols, and ITAR. Conduct regular inspections of storage areas and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards. Participate in safety training and drills to maintain readiness for handling hazardous materials.
- Inventory Management: Support inventory control processes by conducting regular cycle counts and reconciling discrepancies. Assist in tracking material usage and replenishment to ensure availability for mission‑critical operations. Collaborate with the Category Manager to provide accurate inventory data for procurement planning.
- Shipping and Receiving: Coordinate the receipt and shipment of energetic materials, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with transportation regulations. Verify incoming shipments for accuracy and quality, reporting any discrepancies or damages to the Category Manager. Prepare materials for shipment, including packaging and labeling in accordance with DoD and hazardous material guidelines.
- Collaboration and Support: Work closely with the Category Manager, procurement team, and logistics personnel to ensure seamless supply chain operations. Provide support during audits, inspections, and reviews related to material handling and inventory management. Assist in implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Must possess a valid CDL with a Haz Mat endorsement.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications in material handling or logistics preferred.
- Minimum of 23 years of experience in material handling, inventory management, or logistics, preferably in a DoD or defense industry environment.
- Knowledge of handling hazardous materials, including explosives and energetic components, is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with DoD regulations, OSHA standards, and ITAR compliance.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment safely and effectively; certification in forklift operation is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and documentation.
- Experience working in a secure or classified environment.
- Knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures within the defense industry.
- Certification in hazardous material handling or transportation (e.g., HAZMAT certification).
