Supervises: Senior Directors of Clinical Services (SDCS) and BCBAs in centers without an SDCS
Purpose: As a key member of the BI team, the Area Director of Clinical Services (ADCS) is responsible for the clinical quality, adherence to BI Best Practice Guidelines, and the performance of the BCBAs in their assigned area. The ADCS manages the Senior Directors of Clinical Services, or BCBAs in the case of centers that do not have an SDCS. The position is responsible for ensuring the SDCS are consistently and effectively performing their job duties and responsibilities, centers are maximizing number of clients served, achieving the highest clinical quality and optimizing client outcomes in their assigned area.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Outcomes:
- Maintain prescription fulfillment across areas with the goal of all clients at or above 85% in assigned centers.
- Maintain BCBA case management with a goal average at or above 12% in assigned centers.
- Ensure all clients receive at least 5% billable case management in assigned centers.
- Improve/Maintain family engagement in assigned centers with a goal of 100% of families attending family guidance sessions each month.
- Ensure no more than 20% of client programs are regressing in assigned centers.
- Maintain 80% discharge accuracy across assigned centers.
- Ensure BCBAs are spending an appropriate amount of their time working with clients, with an expectation of achieving > 5 hours of case management time per day per BCBA.
Responsibilities:
- Frequent and regular face-to-face contact with centers in assigned areas.
- Ensuring that the area’s SDCSs provide effective, collaborative feedback and coaching to fellows. BCBAs on the treatment fidelity of their clients, with a focus on improving client outcomes.
- Ensure area consistency and quality with assessment, design, management, and oversight of individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs for our clients following BI’s Best Practice Guidelines.
- Ensuring area’s enrolled clients maintain appropriate prescription and fulfillment of authorized hours; regularly reviewing data to monitor progress and goal attainment; and making timely, data-driven modifications to optimize outcomes and support appropriate transitions for clients and families.
- Ensuring area follows payor-specific insurance requirements and BI policies and procedures for obtaining and maintaining authorizations for ABA services. This includes ensuring ongoing complete, accurate, organized and timely documentation of care through regular auditing of charts and supporting peer-to-peer payor reviews.
- Ensuring the area’s frequent collaboration with the child’s most important stakeholders, the caregivers, regarding clinical care.
- Ensuring area compliance with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures including, but not limited to the Compliance Program:
Code of Conduct, HIPAA and documentation standards. - Ensure area centers and BCBAs are efficiently and effectively utilized to serve the maximum number of clients based on the capacity number of hours a center can accommodate. This may require the ADCS to perform assessments, parent training, or supervision of clients.
- In collaboration with Regional Director of Operations, ensure adequate coverage for clients in the absence of a BCBA. This may include carrying a caseload of clients, which will fluctuate in volume based on business needs.
- Participate in various opportunities to drive clinical innovation and advancement of ABA therapy within Behavioral Innovations, including but not limited to the Communities of Practice and Innovators.
- Ensure the area’s adherence to BI’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Attend company-wide calls, monthly clinical meetings, regional clinical meetings, case reviews, etc.
