Responsibilities
  • Assist in patient care throughout the nursing areas and ensure the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services, and appropriate documentation of services.
  • Provide the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation to maximize safety.
  • Perform general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of two years patient care experience preferred
  • BLS certificate or within 1 month of hire
Essential Functions
  • Observe and report patient’s status and needs.
  • Answer call lights and attend to/reports patient needs.
  • Obtain specimens and transport to and send through designated tubes.
  • Transfer, move, and reposition patients.
  • Make occupied and unoccupied beds.
  • Maintain current knowledge and certification requirements.
  • Attend all required Safety Training programs and understand responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety and specific job-related hazards.
  • Respect and regard the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.

  • Frequently required to sit, converse, and listen; use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis and push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Stand and/or walk at least five hours per day.
