Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of experience in telecommunications at a carrier working with optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer‑2/3 routers, and data services.
- 6 years of experience in edge metro capacity delivery.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience leading planning and execution of network deployments, including owning the creation, refinement, and standardization of Deployment Packages and Methods of Procedure.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python) applied to network automation, data analysis, or tooling development.
About the job: As a Network Implementation Engineer, you will be the initial point of our efforts to execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. You will work with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers within Google, as well as construction and telecommunications vendors and contractors, all to position your team and organization for success.
You will facilitate faster, better, and more efficient outcomes for the business and our customers. Your objective will be to build the world’s most reliable, cost‑effective and scalable network to support all of our current and future customers and users globally.
US base salary range for this full‑time position is $144,000–$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits, determined by role, level, and location.
Responsibilities:
- Lead cross‑functional collaboration (e.g., design, deployment, peering, planners) to ensure seamless end‑to‑end network delivery, serving as a technical advisor and escalation point.
- Translate network solutions (Core, Transport, Edge) into standardized, scalable Bills of Materials and Detailed Deployment Packages, defining standards and providing expert technical support for execution.
- Implement automation or other initiatives that enable scalable and repeatable work packages for efficient third‑party execution.
- Own the quality and continuous improvement of Deployment Package Kits (DPKs) and documentation, provide technical leadership and mentorship during deployment, ensuring meticulous records and establishing best practices; define metrics, measure performance, and drive continuous process improvements.
- Lead risk assessment and mitigation by partnering with project management and engineering teams to proactively identify and resolve potential issues in network design and installation.
