Project Accountant

Overview

Staxmatic is seeking a Project Accountant with a background in construction accounting. This role is essential in managing project financials—from tracking costs and budgets to supporting billing and reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to contribute to a collaborative project management team.

  Up to $80,000 based on experience

• Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure alignment with approved financial plans
• Prepare and process project-related invoices, purchase orders, and change orders
• Reconcile project costs, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses
• Support forecasting and reporting for ongoing projects
• Maintain organized financial records, documentation, and tools to support accuracy and efficiency
• Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and accounting team to ensure proper project accounting practices
• Assist with audits, month-end close processes, and financial reporting as needed

• 3–5 years of experience in accounting or project accounting, preferably in construction
• Strong knowledge of cost tracking and financial documentation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/project management software (e.g., Procore or similar)
• Ability to interpret construction contracts, budgets, and financial reports with attention to detail
• Deep understanding of ASC 606
