Job Summary
This position is responsible for assisting the Camp Director and Assistant Director in the daily operation.
MAJOR DUTIES- Perform duties related to assisting the Camp Director and Assistant Director in providing a safe and friendly environment for campers.
- Performs duties and makes decisions consistent with department mission, vision and core values.
- Supervise and lead camp participants in a variety of daily indoor and outdoor activities based on direction provided by the Director or Assistant Director.
- Delivering accurate and timely reports of injuries, safety issues, damage to property, needed repairs, and low inventories of camp supplies to the attention of the Camp Director or Assistant Director.
- Follow, practice, and help enforce all rules and safety standards for camp.
- Provide quality customer service to Camp participants and guardians.
- Follow verbal and written instructions from superiors and ensures the timely and quality completion of those assigned tasks.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, peers, and with children of various ages.
- Experience in participating in a variety of recreational type activities, extracurricular activities at school, volunteering, and serving the community.
- Skills in written and oral communication.
- Must be seventeen (17) years of age or older, those under the age of eighteen (18) must possess a valid work permit.
- Must be able to follow all city ordinances, policies, and procedures.
Employee reports directly to the Summer Camp Director and Assistant Director. The employee may also be directed by other administrative staff within the department loyee will oversee a group of participants.
WORK ENVIRONMENTMost work takes place in an outdoor setting in a variety of weather conditions while participating in moderate to high levels of physical activity including, but not limited to standing, swimming, wading, running, walking, jumping, bending, and minor lifting for long periods of time.
WORK HOURSNormal summer camp hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday for eight weeks. Special training events are required in the weeks prior to camp starting. Some overtime may be required. This is an hourly temporary/seasonal position.
ADA REQUIREMENTSThe incumbent must have full use of upper and lower limbs. Eyeglasses or corrective lenses may be worn to provide 20-20 vision for the incumbent. Hearing aids are also satisfactory.
