Primary Work Setting: School Health Offices in a K-12 public school setting.
About the PositionThe Acton-Boxborough School District is seeking a dedicated, compassionate nurse to join our school health team from approximately mid to late April through the end of the school year. This position involves providing high-quality nursing care to students, supporting their health needs during the school day, and working collaboratively with the district's registered nurses.
Typical Schedule8:50am-3:20 pm or 7:50 am-2:50 pm M-F
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the primary building nurse to provide direct care to students.
- Respond promptly to illness, injury, and medical emergencies.
- Administer medications and perform treatments in accordance with medical orders and school protocols.
- Candidates should understand the Code of Massachusetts Regulations regarding the administration of medications in the school setting.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health records and be able to document utilizing electronic health records.
- Support and promote student wellness and preventive health initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staff.
Follow Massachusetts Department of Public Health and district nursing policies.
Preferred Experience- School nursing and/or pediatric nursing experience.
- A minimum of two years of recent clinical experience is strongly preferred.
- Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Massachusetts
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Current BLS CPR/AED/First Aid certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross (in‑person course only).
