Ground Equipment; GSE Driver
Overview
The GSE Driver reports to GSE Supervisor and ensure the timely and safe transportation of aircraft parts, Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and personnel within the airport environment. Driver is responsible to operate motor vehicles including light vehicles, buses, heavy equipment and other utility vehicles to support operations in accordance with all safety, security and traffic regulations in the Technical Operations environment, in compliance with regulatory and company procedures and requirements.
Responsibilities- Delivering aircraft parts from the warehouse to assigned Technicians/Engineers and GSE deliveries to aircraft and stand on time.
- Ensure safe and smooth functioning of the GSE organization.
- Ensure that the area around aircraft, GSE and aircraft bays for which Etihad Airways is responsible are clear of hazards associated with Foreign Object Damage (FOD).
- Retrieving serviceable/unserviceable parts and GSE from the Technician/aircraft and returning them for further processing.
- Ensure required tags/label/paperwork are affixed to the aircraft part when delivering and ensure correct paperwork accompanies the unserviceable part back to the Line Store.
- Keep vehicle clean and free of debris.
- During transportation of aircraft parts and GSE, ensure they are secured in the vehicle.
- Carries out work in compliance with company, health / Safety and airport procedures and regulations.
- Accept an appropriate level of training that is adequate to perform duties professionally.
- Ensure the shift handover is completed before the end of shift.
- Behaves in a professional manner when dealing with customers and transports Engineers/Technicians to Technical facilities.
- Carries out work in compliance with company, health / safety and airport procedures and regulations.
- Use and maintain approved company-provided PPE at all times during daily GSE activities.
- Obtain and maintain the validity of all necessary safety & operation training provided by the company (e.g. First Aid, Fire Warden, IPAF, HF, documentation).
- Performs all duties allocated by the GSE supervisor.
- Behaves in a professional manner when dealing with customers.
- Ensure staff competency is performed through the approved Etihad competency department for GSE staff assessment of knowledge, awareness, experience, capability, development and training.
- Executes all trips according to schedules, plans and assigned routes to meet on-time performance.
- Carries out daily inspection of the vehicle to maintain trouble-free operation; report faults or malfunctions to supervisor for immediate repairs.
- Performs minor maintenance and cleaning of vehicles on a regular basis.
- Ensure safe transportation, collection and delivery of items (documents, spare parts, tools, cash and other valuables).
- Completes necessary reports and records.
- Follows set standards and procedures of the company & authorities and reports any potential problems and issues through approved processes.
- Ensures compliance with all customer service, safety and quality standards.
- Performs other ad-hoc support activities as required.
- Familiar with, enforces and follows the Safety and Quality Management Manual (SQMM) and participates in workplace safety programs.
- Encourages colleagues and promotes a positive reporting culture by reporting unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, or safety risks.
- Holding valid UAE driving license for at least 2 years (light or heavy vehicles).
- Strong English communication skills.
- Trained on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and their crucial part in daily GSE activities.
- Holding valid IPAF training certificate or license.
- Minimum of 5 years’ aviation experience including at least 2 years in a related position (Operations Driver or GSE Driver - Aircraft Maintenance).
- Must be able to work nights and weekends, work under stress and be able to communicate perfectly in English.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Has attended the Mandatory Induction Training within six (6) months of joining the company as per TPM 3.92 requirements.
