Research Assistant

Job Description

Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant on a 1-year (renewable) contract to join Research in the Health Education Research unit (HERU) in the Institute of Public Health, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University.

This successful applicant will be involved with research project management, field work including recruitment, data collection, and data management, and will also support the research team in a wide variety of research activities.

• Prepare grants and ethics applications
• Recruit and interview participants in the UAE
• Support the Principal Investigator and research group in the implementation of the research project
• Support if required the development of proposals for research funding/ ethics applications
• Engage in the wider research and scholarly activities of the research unit and the Institute
• Contribute to intervention mapping, obesity behavioral risk factors, lifestyle related studies
• Carry out administrative and management work associated with the research project under the supervision of the Principal Investigator
• Assist in qualitative and quantitative data analysis using analysis software/s
• Write research proposals / grant proposals and ethics applications
• Contribute to preparation of manuscripts

Applicants should have a master’s in public health or epidemiology or related field.

• Excellent computer and numerical ability
• Excellent statistical and analytical skills and Geo-Information System
• Good skills in NVivo or other qualitative software
• Previous experience in research proposal writing and published papers
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Demonstrated awareness of cultural, privacy and confidentiality issues
• Good interpersonal and team working skills and flexibility with working hours

Candidates should submit a curriculum vitae with previous public health training or experience/internship.

7000 - 8000 based on qualification and experience.
