Overview

Job Description:

Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant on a 1 year (renewable) contract to join a research on mental health at the Health Education Research Unit (HERU) in the Institute of Public Health, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare grants and ethics applications
  • Recruit and interview participants in the UAE
  • Support the Principal Investigator and research group in the implementation of the research project
  • Support if required, the development of proposals for research funding/ ethics applications
  • Engage in the wider research and scholarly activities of the research unit and the Institute
  • Contributes to Behavioral Analysis through the application of behavioural science models (e.g., COM-B, Health Belief Model, or others) to examine health attitudes, literacy, and help-seeking behaviors
  • Carry out administrative and management work associated with the research project under the supervision of the Principal Investigator
  • Assist in qualitative and quantitative data analysis using analysis software/s
  • Write research proposals / grant proposals and ethics applications
  • Contribute to preparation of manuscripts
  • Standard duties of the post involve research project management, field work including recruitment, data collection, and data management, and supporting the research team in a wide variety of research activities
    • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualification: Applicants should have a master’s in public health or Epidemiology or related field

    • Excellent computer and numerical ability
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic and English
    • Ability to work independently and take initiative
    • Demonstrated awareness of cultural, privacy and confidentiality issues
    • Good interpersonal and team working skills and flexibility with working hours
    • Good skills in SPSS
    • Good skills in Nvivo
    • Previous experience in research proposal writing and published papers

    Salary Range

    6000 - 8000 based on Qualification and Experience
