Postdoctoral Fellow in Chemical Engineering

Overview

The Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the research group of Dr. Joy Tannous. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research projects focused on biomass upgrading, free radical reactions, and catalytic processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity to conduct independent and collaborative research in a multidisciplinary academic environment, with strong emphasis on experimental work, advanced spectroscopy, and scholarly publication.

• Designing and executing experimental research related to catalysis, reaction mechanisms, and material characterization.
• Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment while ensuring a safe working environment.
• Analyzing experimental data and interpreting results independently.
• Preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presenting findings at scientific conferences.
• Assisting in the supervision and mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students.
• Contributing to research proposal writing and the development of new research directions within the group.

• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.

• Proven experience with Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.
• Strong background in catalytic processes, catalyst characterization, and/or reaction mechanisms.
• Ability to conduct independent research and critically analyze and interpret experimental data.
• A strong publication record in reputable, peer-reviewed scientific journals.
