Overview
Job Description The Department of Geography and Urban Sustainability at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the area of Remote Sensing and Urban Redevelopment. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to contribute to an innovative project focused on identifying and monitoring urban redevelopment and regeneration in the UAE using remote sensing and Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI).
The successful candidate will work on advancing methodologies for mapping and analyzing spatiotemporal patterns of urban land-use and land-cover change, supporting sustainable and inclusive urban development.
- Conduct high-quality research using cutting-edge remote sensing techniques.
- Perform GIS/remote sensing–based spatial analysis and GeoAI modeling.
- Prepare and submit manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals.
- Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary research team and with partners.
- Ph.D. in Geography, Remote Sensing, GIScience, Geoscience, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in GIS, remote sensing, spatial analysis, and quantitative methods.

Expected Skills- Familiarity with GeoAI, spatial modeling, or machine learning methods applied to environmental or urban studies.
- Experience handling large-scale satellite datasets (e.g., Landsat, Sentinel, MODIS) and integrating multi-source spatial data.
- Evidence of methodological development and a publication record commensurate with career stage.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently and in teams.
