Job DescriptionThe Staff Nurse is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The Staff Nurse supports professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The Staff Nurse will understand, support and promote the mission, vision and values of SSMC; provide age‑appropriate patient care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice as defined by the regulatory body.
The Staff Nurse will adhere to and promote the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and UAE.
- Assessment and Diagnosis
Collect and analyze assessment data to determine diagnosis/issues; interpret information to derive diagnosis; prioritize data based on patient condition; document data in compliance with guidelines. - Planning and Outcomes Identification
Identify expected outcomes and develop plans addressing health promotion, restoration, and maintenance; involve patient, family, and team; modify plans as patient status changes; document measurable goals. - Implementation and Coordination of Care Delivery
Implement plan in partnership with patient, family, and team; perform treatments and procedures per protocols; administer medications per policies; ensure documentation; communicate across levels. - Health Teaching and Health Promotion
Utilize teaching strategies tailored to patient needs; promote healthy lifestyles; seek feedback via teach‑back; document education in record. - Evaluation
Evaluate progress toward outcomes; assess understanding of plan; revise diagnoses and plans; involve patient and team; provide comprehensive clinical handover. - Evidence‑Based Practice and Research
Integrate current evidence into practice; participate in research activities; share findings; engage in performance improvement projects. - Leadership
Act as professional role model; coordinate delegated activities; apply critical thinking; pursue leadership opportunities; supervise junior staff and student nurses. - Accountabilities
Apply professional ethics; maintain therapeutic relationship; advocate for patient safety; disclose inappropriate practices; evaluate practice against standards; consider cost and environmental factors; communicate risks; seek continuous learning; respond to emergencies.
- Experience
Minimum 2 years clinical experience post qualification in an appropriate setting (waived for UAE graduates after internship). - Education
Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent; registration as a Registered Nurse in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, or Australia; valid/current national license; BLS required. - Desired
N.A.; ACLS, PALS relevant to area of specialty.
